As 2017 came to an end and 2018 loomed ahead of us, I spent some time thinking back over what I accomplished in 2017, as well as fine tuning my focus in 2018.
I started this blog in January and I’ve spent the past year talking about some of the adventures we’ve gone on as we work to be more active. But that’s not all I want to talk about. We have some big, scary goals that we’re working towards, and since they’re goals that many people also want to achieve, I’m going to share our journey. This means I’ll be writing about a wider variety of topics, but hopefully you’ll still find them enjoyable.
So what are the big, scary goals we have?
- Build online businesses that we can run from anywhere
- Pay off debt with profit from the online businesses
- Fund an adoption with profit from the online businesses
- Replace Jeremy’s income so he can quit his non-mobile job
- Downsize, sell our house, and travel the country in an Airstream for a couple years, then spend some time traveling overseas
- Settle down wherever strikes our fancy and build our dream home
These are big, scary, audacious goals that some people would say are too difficult to reach. But I know that if we work hard and stay focused, we can achieve these goals and more. In a recent post I mentioned that I’d started two businesses in 2017, and that they joined two other businesses I’d started in 2016. These businesses (and one more that’s in the works) are what will enable us to achieve financial and geographical independence.
I’ll still be talking about our hikes and other adventures, but every now and then I’ll also be talking about my businesses and how each one will help us to achieve our goals.
This newfound clarity regarding what I want to write about means it’s time to update the mission statement for Our Adventuring Family.
Have you dreamed of hitting the road and traveling the US or the world, experiencing all our wonderful world has to offer?
Have you figured it’s just a dream that will never be a reality?
That was us, until we decided to take control of our lives, make some drastic changes, and finally achieve those dreams we never thought we’d experience. It’s not an easy journey, but the payoff will be more than worth all the work.
Follow along or join us on your journey as we build online businesses to replace Jeremy’s non-mobile job, pay off debt, adopt a child, and start downsizing so we can achieve our goals of first traveling the US and the world, and then settling down wherever strikes our fancy.
We’re also working to overcome bad habits that were established during the ten years of illness I suffered due to undiagnosed celiac disease. It’s been nine years since then, and I’m much healthier than I was, but I’m still on a journey of healing. Part of that journey is intentionally choosing to be more active and to develop healthy habits for the whole family.
